PRP Therapy for Hair Loss

Hair thinning and loss is an extremely common condition that affects both men and women by the millions. While genetics typically play an essential role, other factors, from stress to pollution, can also lead to short- and long-term hair loss. Our practice offers an innovative solution that requires no surgery or significant downtime and can provide noticeable improvement in hair thickness and quantity. Dr. Shehla Ebrahim, our extensively trained physician, can determine if this procedure is right for you at your initial consultation.

What Is PRP Therapy for Hair Loss?

PRP stands for platelet-rich-plasma, a substance that is derived from your own natural blood. Plasma has regenerative capabilities, and it has been used in medical treatments for decades to help patients heal faster. When applied to the scalp in targeted locations, PRP can help stimulate hair growth for fuller, thicker, and more lustrous hair in people who have noticed thinning and loss. PRP therapy is non-surgical and minimally invasive, and at our practice this treatment is often combined with treatment using the U225 mesotherapy injector to achieve the best possible outcome.

What Are the Benefits of PRP Therapy for Hair Loss?

PRP therapy offers numerous advantages, and benefits include:

  • Minimally invasive procedure
  • Little to no downtime
  • Natural-looking results
  • Typically quick and easy
  • Suitable for most hair types
  • Virtually no risk of an allergic reaction
  • Can improve hair thickness, quality, and health

Does PRP Therapy Hurt?

This is not a surgical procedure, so there are no incisions. Most patients report the treatment is easy and relatively quick. We will take a small volume of blood from your arm and process it lightly to separate the platelet-rich-plasma from the other components. Microneedling with the mesotherapy injector will be performed first, if this is part of your treatment plan, which you will be numbed for. Depending on your procedure, we will apply the PRP with the mesotherapy injector or apply it topically to the targeted area, which the skin will absorb more fully due to the pre-treatment. You should feel only minor discomfort, if even that. Your care and comfort are our primary concerns, and we will work with you to ensure you are relaxed and at ease throughout the process.

How Long Is Recovery Following PRP Therapy for Hair Loss?

One of the many benefits of PRP therapy for hair loss is that there is minimal downtime, and most patients can return to their normal schedule immediately after the procedure. You may experience some redness and tenderness in the treated area, which should subside shortly. We recommend having three treatments spaced one month apart for the optimal result.

How Much Does PRP Therapy for Hair Loss Cost?

PRP therapy is customized to your needs, goals, and preferences. At our practice, we charge $750 a treatment. As mentioned above, we recommend one treatment a month for three months for the ideal outcome, and we can let you know if other treatments can help enhance your results or accomplish any of your other cosmetic goals.
